Before I became a career coach, I spent years on the hiring side, recruiting senior leaders at Amazon and running executive searches as a headhunter. I saw just how flawed and frustrating the process can be, even for top talent.
There were brilliant executives, people with real leadership chops, who couldn’t even get a first interview. Not because they weren’t qualified. But because their story wasn’t clear. Because they didn’t know how to translate decades of impact into the language hiring managers actually listen to. That stuck with me. Not because it was rare but because it was normal.
